BANSKO
Bansko is the latest Bulgarian winter resort, which has been recently discovered by foreign ski lovers. Here you can find a marvelous combination between the virgin nature and the romanticism of the ancient town of Bansko.

The ski resort of Bansko is situated in the south-western part of Bulgaria, in the foot of the Pirin mountain, one of the most beautiful upper massifs, a national reserve, declared by UNESCO for a world nature heritage site. The museum-town is surrounded by 87 mountain peaks and 150 lakes.

Bansko is a climatic mountain resort – short summer and long winter. Snowfalls are heavy. Snow shroud reaches 2m.

REST
There are 120 cultural monuments, house-museums, a permanently functioning ethnographic exhibition, and an exhibition of icons from the Bansko icon –painting school, the ancient Sveta Troitsa (St. Trinity) church with a thirty-meter clock-tower, magnificent frescos and fretwork. Spicy cuisine and vivid folklore. Rich excursion programs of educational and entertaining nature. Discos, bars, restaurants, shops, fairs.

SKI SPORT
Mountains are predominantly alpine style. There are runs of all categories - for beginners and for experienced skiers.

Education in the ski school is conducted in five grades of complexity (А, В, С, D, Е), individually or in groups with various course duration. Education in cross-country skiing is conducted in two classes of complexity. The ski school may be visited by tourists over the age of 4. You can rent ski equipment and store your own equipment in the ski-lockers located within the ski-runs region. The Mountain Rescue Service bases are in the town of Bansko and within the Shiligarnika Region.

SNOWBOARDERS
All ski runs are suitable for this kind of sport. It is possible to hire an instructor and rent a snowboard. The skillful extreme snowboarders may go downhill off-piste as well over a marvelous untilled snow. The thrill seekers (who are not looking for easy roads)may find new, unknown places, covered with deep fluffy snow.

RUNS
The three ski regions of Bansko are located above the town, along the northern slopes of the Pirin mountain: the highest of them all is Shiligarnika (1700-2500m) which is situated under Todorin Peak (2746m).

Here are the runs where slalom and giant slalom competitions are carried out. The second one, which is lower, is Chalin Valog (1100-1600m), and the third ski region is Banderishka valley. Runs for beginners are found in the region of Chalin Valog

(it is serviced by two ski tows), as well as within the Shiligarnika region (two ski tows).
There are runs for cross-country skiing with a total length of 5 km (1530m above sea level) in the Banderishka Valley locality. This is also a biathlon region. There is a three-kilometer cross-country skiing distance, Rollban, which is 2km off the town at 1050m above seal level.
